SPRINT CAR RACING AT ANTIOCH AND MARYSVILLE CLAIMED BY FORSBERG AND MADJIC

(May 31, 2020) – Both Antioch Speedway and Marysville Raceway Park continued their return to racing on Saturday night with each of them hosting competition 360 winged Sprint Cars. Andy Forsberg picked up his first win of 2020 at Marysville while Chase Madjic topped 28 cars competing at Antioch. Antioch also played host to a full field of Wingless Sprint Cars as well.

At Marysville, Billy Wallace led early while Forsberg and Bunch battled for fourth. Forsberg and Bunch battled side-by-side for several laps until Bunch swept around Jake Hallot for third. Forsberg then squeezed past Hallot to move into fourth. On lap eight, Forsberg got around Bunch for third while lapped traffic impeded race leader Wallace.

Brad Bumgarner took the lead on lap ten in traffic with the top-three under a blanket. Wallace jumped back inside Bumgarner but could not clear him. Forsberg charged from fourth on a restart and quickly advanced into second with ten to go.

Forsberg ripped the cushion in turn one on the following restart, sweeping past Bumgarner with ease to make the decisive pass for the victory. Bumgarner finished second ahead of Bunch, Michael Ing, and Wallace. Dan Brown, Jr., Jesse Van Roekel, and Jeff Macedo also claimed Marysville checkered flags.

A young front row of Jacob Tuttle and Colby Johnson led the field to green at Antioch. Chase Madjic moved past Tuttle on the opening lap to take second, then began climbing towards Johnson. Madjic dropped to third as he bicycled into turn one on a restart. Aton had a broken power steering line which placed Madjic into second. Madjic tried to run down Johnson before a caution for Adam Kaeding stopped in turn four on the final lap.

Madjic used a slidejob on a green-white-checkered finish to take the lead. Johnson slid him back on the final lap but Madjic crossed him over as the yellow flew again for Tuttle spinning on the front stretch. The second attempt at completing the race saw Madjic never surrender the lead en route to the victory. Johnson settled for second ahead of Sean Becker, Chase Johnson, and Zane Blanchard.

Shayna Ensign won her first Wingless feature since 2018 over DJ Johnson and Jake Morgan. Dylan Bloomfield debuted with a fifth-place finish. The inaugural Delta Dwarf Car race went to Kevin Miraglio.

California racing action continues Sunday afternoon with action at Stockton 99 Speedway. Next weekend’s slate is expected to swell with the addition of Ukiah Speedway and Madera Speedway to the approved tracks for racing.
