MADERA SPEEDWAY MOVES INTO PHASE TWO OF REOPENING PLAN

(May 16, 2020) – Madera Speedway has provided an update to their phased reopening plan, moving into phase two which allows for expanded practices at the one-third mile paved oval in Madera County.

The speedway intends to hold a larger practice session on May 23rd, with teams required to call ahead to register to participate in the test session. The announcement also coincides with an official postponement for the televised races on May 30th.

Speedway promoter Kenny Shepherd has outlined a path to phase three in June, which would allow for non-televised Madera Late Model races with no fans in the grandstands. Events would be live streamed for free for race fans to view. At least two Madera Late Model races are planned before the first MAVTV-televised Nut Up Pro Late Model and 51FIFTY Jr. Late Model races later in the summer.

Phase four of Madera’s plan with its county officials includes limited grandstand seating with distancing of six feet between attendees. This phase is likely several months from being possible.
