OCEAN AND ANTIOCH SPEEDWAYS UP NEXT FOR WESTERN MIDGET RACING
WATSONVILLE, CALIFORNIA (July 24, 2024) – Oakley’s Bryant Bell leads Western Midget Racing into another doubleheader weekend this Friday and Saturday night with action at Ocean Speedway and Antioch Speedway. Friday races will be streamed live on www.StarsonDirt.TV Antioch Speedway does not have streaming in 2024. Race fans are encouraged to grab a ticket to check out the open wheel dirt track action both nights. Weekend forecasts call for comfortable weather both nights, following a sizzling hot stretch which has challenged both race teams and the fans.
Bell stormed into the Western Midget Racing points lead after sweeping the Howard Kaeding Classic weekend on July 12 and 13 at Ocean Speedway. The weekend winning performances also kicked off the lucrative Triple Crown series and paid Bell $1700 for his work in the stock production powered Midget series. Bell has also won four of the last five WMR races.
Incidents on both nights of the HK Classic dropped incoming points leader Logan Mitchell of Santa Cruz down to a 40-point deficit in the standings in the No. 96x car. Mitchell still has an outstanding four wins on his 2024 resume and will aim for more with seven rounds remaining this season.
San Jose’s Anthony Bruno ranks third in the championship with just a two-point lead over Santa Clarita’s Adam Weisberg and a four point advantage over Kyle Hawse of Las Vegas in a tight duel for third in the standings.
Other series regulars have included Todd Hawse of Moorpark, Terry Nichols of Delano, Nate Wait of Lodi, and Marvin Mitchell of Madera. Wait and Nichols both suffered crashes during the Kaeding Classic weekend while battling for strong finishes. Each will be searching for their first series win this weekend.
