KALEB MONTGOMERY SWEEPS 2026 ULTIMATE SPRINT CAR SERIES ACTION IN BAKERSFIELD

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (September 13, 2026) – Kaleb Montgomery completed a sweep of the Ultimate Sprint Car Series races at Bakersfield Speedway at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway for 2026 and a sweep of the weekend’s USCS action in the central valley, taking the checkered flag in Saturday’s 25-lap feature in Bakersfield. Grant Sexton led the leaders into lapped traffic in the feature before Camarillo’s Ricky Lewis managed to slide him just past the halfway mark to take the top spot. The sixth-starting Montgomery then moved into second.

By lap 15, Lewis and Montgomery were nose to tail in lapped traffic. Montgomery threw a slidejob at Lewis into turn one but Lewis turned underneath him down the backstretch. They crossed over again in turns three and four but Montgomery maintained control of the top spot to lead lap 18. Cautions flew on laps 20 and 23 but Montgomery held serve to take the victory. Lewis settled for second followed by Sexton in third. Caden Sarale of Stockton finished fourth with Ryan Timmons rounding out the top-five.

“Making the right adjustments before the feature was really good. I can’t thank Hoosier Tire enough for making these tires like this one I got on tonight. I love the USCS where you can run open tires and make the most of your car. I tried to make the most of some decisions, almost got upside down racing with Caden (Sarale). That was pretty cool. Man just hats off to everyone involved in this team. Thanks to Kern County for this awesome facility and Malyssa (Perkins) for putting on these races,” Montgomery said.

Lewis, Timmons, and AJ Bender won the heat races. Montgomery was the fastest overall qualifier.

Michael Tobiason of Ramona, Calf. used an outside maneuver on Kameron Cowles to take the lead and eventually the victory in the 25-lap National Dwarf Car feature. The win paid $1,500 to win as part of the Central Valley Clash. Friday winner J.D. Brown of Bakersfield passed Cowles for second later in the feature. Cowles, Ian Velasquez, and Nick Velasquez rounded out the top-five. Nick Velasquez won the fast dash while Tobiason was the quick qualifier.

Ricky Childress, Jr. scored victory number ten of the year in the Hobby Stocks, leading Nicholas Johnson, Brock Crawford, Brooke Cimental, and Cameron Campbell at the finish. Tyler Weeks prevailed in the American Stocks action followed by Carson Conway, Dan Bryant, Mason Conway, and Jon McKinley, Sr.

Jason Cook, Jr. of Porterville wrapped up the Mini Stocks championship with a main event victory on Saturday night. Second in points Gene Glover of Visalia finished second in the feature. Devin Kennedy rounded out the podium finishers.

The Bakersfield Speedway at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway returns on Friday September 25 for the World of Outlaws and Saturday September 26 with championship night for the IMCA Modifieds, SportMods, Hobby Stocks, and American Stocks.
