DWARF CAR REGIONAL EVENT IN WATSONVILLE THIS FRIDAY AND SATURDAY

WATSONVILLE, CALIF. (August 25, 2022) – Ocean Speedway hosts dozens of Dwarf Car racers from across the west coast in a regional championship race this Friday and Saturday night. The Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds dirt track hosts the third regional as part of a ten-event schedule for the Western States Dwarf Car Association. Both nights of action will also include non-points racing for the Four Bangers division along with Mini Late Models making their debut at the speedway. Adult tickets are value priced at just $10 for adults, $5 for juniors, and kids 11 and under are free. Pit gates open at 1pm on Friday with spectator gates opening at 4:30pm. Gate times are one hour earlier for Saturday’s action.

Baypoint’s Danny Wagner leads the 2022 Dwarf Car action in Watsonville with five wins in seven starts. Shawn Jones of San Jose is the only other feature winner this season, winning the other three events held this year. Dwarf cars are half scale race cars with 1000cc engines and weigh 1,000 lbs without the driver.

Felton’s Nicole Beardsley won the 2022 Four Banger championship with one main event win and 10 top-five finishes. Other race winners this year have included Kenny Stragalinos of Boulder Creek with three wins, one win for Tony Gullo of Watsonville, two wins for Kate Beardsley, three wins for Jason Lazzerini of Moss Landing, and one win each for Troy Moore of Santa Cruz and Ryan McClelland of Scotts Valley.

Mini Late Models debut with their 600cc powered machines for both nights of the Dwarf Car Regional this weekend as well.
