DANIELS, COX CROWNED LAKEPORT SPEEDWAY 2020 CHAMPIONS

(September 18, 2020 from Lakeport Speedway) – The 2020 racing season was not the same as past seasons in Lake County due to no spectators, but the action on the track was just as exciting for the participants who were allowed to compete. Winning a championship is the overall goal for all race drivers, and this year saw two new drivers join the list of NCRA Lakeport Speedway track champions.

Seventeen year old Kylie Daniels of Fort Bragg earned her first Lakeport Speedway Legends Car championship, beating out Tom Summers of Willits and her two brothers Trey Daniels (age 11) and Aidan Daniels (age 16.)

During the season Kylie Daniels set fast time on the June 20 season opener. She won both the heat race and the main event on July 18, and took home trophy dash honors on August 22. She finished second to Cody Winchel at the season finale on September 12.

In the Taco Bell Bomber championship battle it was Donovan Cox who came out on top. Cox set fast time and was the winner of the first bomber race of 2020 in June and the 30 lap main event on August 15. His other accomplishments included four trophy dash wins and three heat race victories.

Finishing in the top five in bomber points were Cox, Mike Collins, Amber Portlock, Klinton Waite and Trevor Abella.

Northern California Racing Association plans to honor its champions at an awards banquet later this year when the covid-19 restrictions are lifted.
