13TH ANNUAL SHORT TRACK SHOOTOUT SEES PRO LATE MODELS RACING FOR $10K TO WIN AT MADERA THIS SATURDAY NIGHT
MADERA, CALIFORNIA (October 14, 2025) – Stock car drivers from across the west compete this Saturday night at Madera Speedway in the 13th annual Short Track Shootout 175 paying $10,000 to win. The championship race for the 2025 Pro Late Model Series has attracted nearly two dozen entries for the five figure payday. Main events begin at 6pm. Adult tickets are just $25, seniors and military are $20, youth ages 6-12 are $15 and kids five and under are free. All tickets will be sold at the track ticket booth. Race fans can “Join” www.YouTube.com/ShortTrackTV for $19.99 per month for a members-only live stream as well. The races will be televised later on RACER Network.
San Jose’s Jay Juleson has already clinched the Pro Late Model championship, allowing the driver of the HGC Motorsports No. 12 Ford to put his full attention on the 175-lap feature. Juleson will face off with another driver with the No. 12 on the side of his Fords, with two-time Shootout winner Kyle Keller of Madera in action on Saturday night. Defending Short Track Shootout winner Ethan Nascimento returns with a pack of Nascimento Motorsports entries such as his older brother Eric “Bubba” Nascimento, 2023 51FIFTY Jr. Late Model champion Vito Cancilla of Martinez, and veteran driver Greg Potts competing.
Last weekend’s Stockton Pro Late Model winner Hayden Stepps of Oakdale and 13-year-old Bristol Borneman of Ramona are entered as well. 2019 Madera Pro Late Model champion Austin Herzog of Clovis, 2024 Madera Late Model champion Trevor Schlundt and veteran Rick Thompson of Fresno look to defend home turf. Former Jr. Late Model champion Joey Iest of Madera, Carson City, Nevada’s Bobby Hodges, and 15-year-old Kylie Glick of Lincoln will represent the potent Naake Motorsports stable. Oakdale’s Blaine Rocha has podiumed twice in the Short Track Shootout in recent seasons including finishing third last year.
The event opens with a 100-lap opening segment, followed by a break for adjustments, fuel, and the ability for teams to change two Hoosier tires. A 75-lap second segment determines the race winner.
Oregon City, Oregon’s James Hamlin leads Santa Rosa’s Eli Black by ten markers heading into Saturday’s finale for the 51FIFTY Jr. Late Model Series for drivers ages 10-16 years old. Hamlin had no previous starts in the division before 2025, looking to become just the third driver in series history to achieve the feat. Skyler Schoppe of Clovis is third in the standings followed by Washington’s Hunter Gates and Ramona’s Bristol Borneman. The championship race for the Jr. Late Models is a 70-lap contest with a 40-lap opening segment and a 30-lap race to the finish.
Lillie Cook looks to become the second female INEX champion in Madera Speedway history with a 33-point lead in the INEX Legends action. Bakersfield drivers Colton Page, Logan Chambers, and Eddie Garone are in pursuit with Santa Clarita’s Konner Karsten rounding out the top-five. A 30-lap feature is scheduled. INEX Bandoleros are also scheduled with a 20-lap main event.
Activities kick off Friday with pit gates opening at 3pm and practice from 3pm to 8:30pm. Saturday pit gates open at noon with the drivers meeting at 1:30pm followed by practice at 2pm. Qualifying is set for 4:05pm followed by heat races with opening ceremonies at approx. 6pm
