TREVINO, PAHULE, AND STEPPS FAMILY EARN 2024 DELTA SPEEDWAY CHAMPIONSHIPS

STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA (October 6, 2024) – Saturday’s championship finale at Stockton’s Delta Speedway presented by Valley Strong Credit Union saw four drivers complete their championship performances. Madera’s Logan Trevino, Brentwood’s Jeffrey Pahule, and the Oakdale siblings of Hayden and Heston Stepps won the 2024 Micro Sprint championships at the 1/7th mile dirt track at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds. Rocklin’s Tucker Lacaze topped the 21 entries in winged Super 600 qualifying with a rapid 9.374-second lap. Anthony Lewis and Nikko Panella won the heat races. Pahule started on the pole for the 30-lap feature and led the opening lap. A five-car skirmish at the top of turn three halted the race.

Sarale challenged Pahule for the lead on lap 12 but the battling stopped when Rylee Whitehouse crashed in turn three.

Pahule accumulated a sizeable lead which shrunk in lapped traffic with less than five to go. Sarale pounced, sliding underneath Pahule in turn four to win by just .010 seconds at the line. Panella finished third with Madera’s Logan Trevino doing just enough with a fourth-place finish to wrap up the Super 600 championship. Jackson Kohler finished Saturday’s feature in fifth.

Sarale backed up a strong Friday night by leading time trials in Non-Wing. Pahule and Fresno’s Mattix Salmon won the ten-lap heat races.

A zero inversion gave Sarale a pole starting position for the 30-lap feature, which created a tough challenge from the rest of the 18-car field.

Sarale showed the way into lapped traffic at the halfway point. Jeffrey Pahule used the traffic to work past Nikko Panella for second and began to close in on Sarale. Pahule then went up in smoke on lap 22 with an apparent engine failure.

Panella gave it a shot to overhaul Sarale on the restart but couldn’t complete the pass. Sarale topped Panella by a car length for the win. Salmon, Colin Kirby, and Brody Rubio were the balance of the top-five. Despite the DNF, Pahule was able to finish off the 2024 Non-Wing division championship.

Clay Mibach topped Restricted time trials and the lone Restricted heat race of the night went to Brodie Copeland. Copeland and points leader Hayden Stepps shared the front row in a 25-lap feature. Stepps made quick work on the high side to lead lap one.

Stepps built up a four-second advantage but the caution flew with just four laps to go. Stepps would not be denied, holding off Mibach for her sixth win and the walk-off championship. Mibach, Jackson Tardiff, Briggs Davis, and Levi Osborne rounded out the top-five finishers.

Heston Stepps had a strong start to the Jr. Sprints 20-lap race after starting on the pole. Stepps built a nearly three second lead before Easton Wright and Haven Sherman collided in turn four, sending Wright up onto his side. Wright was able to rejoin the race, however. Stepps held off Sherman to the finish for his fourth win of the year and another Stepps family walkoff for a 2024 championship. David Anderson finished third followed by Nathan Fernandez and Lucas Fenn.

Stepps won both of his heat races while Wright and Anderson were the other heat race winners.

Delta Speedway presented by Valley Strong Credit Union concludes its season on October 25 and 26 with Turkey Bowl XXV. Jr. Sprints, Stock 600, and Restricted will each race for $1025 to win while Super 600 and Non-Wing will be competing for $2525 to win.
