JETT YANTIS EARNS SECOND CAREER CALIFORNIA SPEEDWEEK VICTORY DURING 2025 OPENER AT PLAZA PARK

VISALIA, Calif. (July 1, 2025) – After a mechanical problem in Non-Wing and a narrow runner-up finish in A-Class, Bakersfield’s Jett Yantis scored during the Super 600 nightcap for opening night of the Hoosier Tire California Speedweek. Yantis’ performance led the action as five divisions of Micro Sprints kicked off four races in five nights with action at Visalia’s Plaza Park Raceway. Photo by Maxwell Patrick Imagery
The 2025 King of California Super 600 and Non-Wing points leader started on the outside pole for the 30-lap winged feature which paid $1,000 to win. He quickly passed Washington’s Dominic Carter and led wire-to-wire. The race’s exclamation point came on lap 18 when Fresno’s Mattix Salmon slowed in turn four. Arizona’s Jaxon Porter darted to avoid, catching out Hanford’s Keaton Martella who flipped hard. He was uninjured.
Kingsburg’s KJ Snow finished second followed by Maverick Myrick, Carter, and 2024 Non-Wing champion Austin Torgerson of Glendale, Ariz. Myrick was the top qualifier before Yantis, Porter, and Snow won the heat races.
Jeffrey Pahule of Brentwood won the Non-Wing opening night of the California Speedweek for the second consecutive season. Pahule and Eric Botelho of Kerman traded the lead on the opening lap before Pahule drove ahead with the position. Glendale, Ariz.’s Tyler Ruth spun from fourth for a caution on lap 13.
Tyler Ruth spun from fourth on lap 13 in turn four. On the restart, Tucson, Ariz.’s Quinn Thurein drove into second place. Pahule maintained a five car length advantage over Thuerin to the finish. Botelho finished third with Snow and Visalia’s Jett Barnes rounding out the top-five finishers. Austin Torgerson went to a backup car for the feature and charged from 16th to seventh. Three-time series champion TJ Smith of Fresno won qualifying. Pahule and Botelho split the ten-lap heat races.
2024 Plaza Park Raceway Super 600 Speedweek feature winner Maverick Myrick of Tulare scored the inaugural California Speedweek main event win for the stock A-Class. Myrick led all 25 circuits for the victory. Triple-duty racer Jett Yantis chased Myrick throughout the feature, showing his nose on several occasions.
Eric Botelho finished third followed by Dalton Parreira of Hanford and Brycen Roush of Riverdale. Brentwood’s Jeffrey Pahule spun at the start but recovered to finish tenth. Australian Cruz Farrell flipped on the front stretch but was uninjured. He rejoined the race to finish 17th as well.
Landon Henry, Botelho, and Dash Duinkerken split the heat races while Cash Lovenburg topped time trials.
Jayden Ferneau of Peoria, Ariz. won his first career Restricted feature race during one of the biggest shows of the year, winning a bear at the Hoosier Tire California Speedweek. Numerous incidents and called back starts allowed the fifth-starting Ferneau to advance quickly into a front row position. Aubri Huckleberry of Visalia was a part of two early incidents, the second of which also ended the evening for Bryson Sozinho. Fast-time qualifier Cole Bezio of El Cajon flipped over Tyce Domingos of Tulare while slowing for a called back start, eliminating both from the race.
Ferneau led Braxon Vasconcellos of Tulare, Jace Meyers of Fresno, eighth-starting Kourtney Baker of La Crescenta, and tenth-starting Braxton Flatt of Illinois at the finish. Huckleberry and Meyers won the heat races.
Logan LaVarnway of Lemoore earned his first career Speedweek triumph in the 20-lapper for Jr. Sprints. Lee Uzzell of Hanford nearly swept the night, leading time trials and winning the ten lap heat race. Uzzell settled for second in the feature followed by Huxcen Roush of Riverdale, Arizona’s Micah Porter, and Casen Key of Fresno.
The Hoosier Tire California Speedweek moves 20 miles west to Lemoore Jet Bowl for Wednesday night action. Pit gates open at 3pm with the drivers meeting at 5:15pm. Single race event registration is available in all five classes participating.
