Defending Mission Pro Late Models champion Matt Erickson of La Grange showed championship form with a strong performance in round two on April 5. Primarily using the outside line, Erickson charged from the sixth position to the lead by the lap 50 race break. He was unopposed over the final 30-laps for the coveted victory.
Atwater’s Jason Aguirre finished second while San Jose’s Jay Juleson won a long battle with veteran Rick Thompson of Fresno to round out the podium. Juleson leads Aguirre in the championship standings by just three markers followed by Thompson in third. Clovis’ Trevor Schlundt and Coarsegold’s Will Martyn round out the top-five of the 2025 standings thus far.
2024 51FIFTY Jr. Late Model Series runner-up Cam Carraway of Castro Valley and San Francisco’s Henry Barton are among new and returning faces expected at Madera Speedway for Saturday’s 80-lap feature.
A win and a second-place finish have lifted Santa Rosa’s Eli Black into a narrow two-point lead in the 51FIFTY Jr. Late Model Series heading into Saturday’s 70-lap feature. 14-year-old Skyler Schoppe of Clovis won round two, moving into second in the standings followed by Oregon’s James Hamlin, Washington’s Hunter Gates, and Ramona, Calif.’s Bristol Borneman in fifth.
The youngest stock car drivers in the west participate in a 70-lap RACER Network-televised feature. The race is split across a 40-lap opening segment followed by a break for adjustments and interviews. A 30-lap race to the finish determines the winner.
Bakersfield’s Logan Chambers has claimed both INEX Legends races so far this season to lead the series as they approach this weekend’s 30-lap race. Colton Page of Bakersfield has been his closest rival, narrowly falling short of victory in the second race of the season. Just seven points separate the pair of Bakersfield contenders. Fellow Bakersfield pilot Eddie Garone is third. Daniel Shamoon of Clovis and Mariposa rookie Lillie Cook make up the balance of the top-five.
The growing Pro Sportsman division races into round three on Saturday night with a 30-lap feature on deck. Madera’s Joseph Holliday has two fast-times, a win, and a second-place finish to climb atop the standings. 2024 champion Steve Schermerhorn is second in the order, just nine points behind. Joseph Reichmuth of Manteca is third in the championship followed by Brian Taylor and Kadence Toland.
