ON THE RADAR: WHO IS OPEN FOR RACING AND WHO IS CLOSED IN CALIFORNIA?

(July 8, 2020) – Speedways are both opening and closing across the state of California. In this week’s On The Radar, we are taking a look at both situations. Here are the races on track this week and how to watch, and here are the tracks still on hiatus in the Golden State.

Wednesday July 8:
Marysville Raceway hosts another midweek event with Wild Winged Wednesday, expected to attract a competitive field of 360 Sprint Cars in action. Stream: Speed Shift TV via FloRacing

Friday July 10:
Ocean Speedway in Watsonville will be the site for the season opener for the Western Midget Racing series. They will be joined by a busy seven division card that includes Ocean Sprints presented by Taco Bravo, IMCA Modifieds, and IMCA Sport Modifieds. Stream: Speed Shift TV via FloRacing

Saturday July 11:
Antioch Speedway presents the Tri State Pro Stocks for the second time this year, with a healthy field expected for the $1000 prize. Stream: Unknown

Cycleland Speedway continues a busy summer with another hot night of Outlaw Kart action. Stream: Fast Four Media

Delta Speedway will present its four regular Micro Sprint divisions for points race #3Stream: None

Irwindale Speedway brings back Super Late Model racing to join its NASCAR Late Model program. Stream: IrwindaleSpeedway.TV

Lemoore Raceway brings in Micro Sprints for their second points race of the year. Stream: None

Madera Speedway presents the second round of its MAVTV-televised Nut Up Pro Late Models and 51FIFTY Jr. Late Models. Stream: free on ShortTrackTV on YouTube

Petaluma Speedway is the only Saturday night 360 Sprint Car division racing in Northern California, which could lead to a blockbuster event. Stream: Speed Shift TV via FloRacing

Redwood Acres Raceway in Eureka fires up with the Firecracker 100 for Super Late Models. The action will be available for a free Stream: Redwood Acres Facebook page.

Stockton 99 Speedway’s Stockton Late Model division is back on the card for the second weekend in a row, along with their regular weekly divisions. Stream: Unknown

Ukiah Speedway will host its third round of racing in 2020 with Open Modifieds and Limited Modifieds both competing. Stream: Ukiah Speedway Facebook

Sunday July 12:
Merced Speedway finally gets its 2020 campaign off and running with IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Racesaver Sprints as the headlining divisions. Stream: Speed Shift TV via FloRacing

On Hiatus:

All American Speedway has added cancelations of the July 11 and July 18 NASCAR Weekly Racing Series events to its hit list. The speedway is still working on a plan to open on August 1 for a six-race season.

Calistoga Speedway has canceled its 2020 season which included World of Outlaws and the Louie Vermeil Classic. The entire West Coast swing in September for the World of Outlaws has been shuttered, including the Gold Cup in Chico and races at Stockton Dirt Track and Santa Maria.

Perris Auto Speedway has paused its racing program through the end of July, as another fairground track struggles to get up and running without fans in the grandstands.

Santa Maria Raceway has canceled all events through August 15th, including races for USAC and the King of the West.

Silver Dollar Speedway hopes to reopen like its sister track Marysville Raceway, but no announcements have been made.

Speedway Willow Springs and Orange Show Speedway are a pair of Southern California paved ovals that have not confirmed any plans to race yet this summer. Orange Show will continue to host practices, including an open practice on July 18th.

Ventura Raceway has not made any announcements about a 2020 racing program at this time.
